about

Between Heaven And Hell is a song about identity and how our good and bad experiences shape us in our adulthood.

As a kid I was ashamed of my skin color
I would wear long pants and shirts so they would cover my knees ans elbows, cause I heard some kid say they look like elephant heads being darker than the rest of my body

I would most of the time have my hands in my pocket cause they were so dark.

I would be ashamed of my religion and when I had friends over and I was told to pray I would make them go out of the room so they couldn’t see what I was doing

I would be ashamed of my culture and food cause it would make my clothes smell

We all have some sort of baggage from our childhoods that has made us to who we are.
Some are well aware and can voice it while others are without knowing it are dealing with the consequences.
In my case the baggage came in the shape of negative experiences related to my skin color, religion and culture, not fitting in and feeling different.

lyrics

INTRO
Were between heaven and hell
so please don lose yourself

VERS
Don’t lose yourself
Like I did no doubt about it
They love to see you fail on stage
Then they laugh about it
had my share of downfalls
And I can talk about it
Imposter syndrome
Let me tell you about
My childhood didn’t come with a manual on feeling different
I was tossed outside
In a cutthroat invirement
Had to learn the hard way
Cussed out beat down cause I look different
I had so many questions
Like why we Muslim
Why we don’t celebrate Christmas
Why I got so much facial hair
Why can’t I be fair and lovely like the other kids It’s not fair
I didn’t dare to share this with anyone so it’s something that I had to bare

HOOK
You've been up and down
and you've been searching all around
I know that every single day is a fight to stay sane
Theres no simple truth
No words that will comfort you
Were between heaven and hell
so please dont lose yourself

VERSE
Just believe in yourself
Easy said man
been looking for miyself
Since I was kidnapped
Stripped away my confidence
Locked it up in a basement
One day surfaced
found a purpose
To feed me incompetence
I got a lack of confidence in my own accomplishments and trust there are plenty of acknowledgment
But they look at me funny
When I tell em I have issues that some of are heavy
That they stem from my childhood
I Still carry them with me
That my palms still get sweaty
When the trauma from childhood
Reapears in these years
Man get over it already
Then I heard a quote
Once you discover your worth
It will hard to you
To be around people who dont

HOOK
You've been up and down
and you've been searching all around
I know that every single day is a fight to stay sane
Theres no simple truth
No words that will comfort you
Were between heaven and hell
so please dont lose yourself
